Robert Jones originally came from the industrial West Midlands in the UK. Robert served his apprenticeship as a pattern maker working for one of the largest foundry Companies in the UK which at that time employed over 19 000 people. In 1988 Robert moved to New Zealand where he soon became involved in the local woodturning scene. At this time woodwork was still a hobby although most of his work sold readily in galleries and exhibitions throughout New Zealand. In 1995 Robert relocated to Mundijong a small town south of Perth in WA. Since this time he has worked full time creating works in wood which he supplies to galleries around Australia.
