Xanthe Gay began making jewellery at the age of 12 and had her first market stall at 13. She continued to sell her jewellery throughout high school while also teaching classes on weekends at a large bead and jewellery shop in The Rocks Sydney. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree majoring in Jewellery and Object Design. She relocated south for Post Graduate Studies in Gold and Silver Smithing at the Canberra School of Art and now lives in Bungendore where she owns and runs her X Gallery. Her preferred material is sterling silver however she also works in other metals including gold and stainless steel and materials such as bone horn wood stone and glass.
