Terry Martin

Terry Martin grew up in Melbourne and Swan Hill on the Murray River and left Australia in his early twenties to undertake a cornucopia of careers that included mining exploration in Papua New Guinea touring the US with the Australian Ballet sailing around the Pacific and ski patrolling in Austria. On his return to Australia 13 years later he turned to woodworking as a means of personal artistic expression and to provide a palpable outlet for his love of the Australian native trees. He is one of the leading figures in the wood genre with a substantial number of publications including his seminal Wood Dreaming in 1996 which featured the work and stories of master woodturners from all over the Australian continent.
