Jim Svensson is a professional artist working full-time from his home in Maleny. His pieces range from serni to non-representational forms that reflect his deep love of his Australian heritage relationships and spirituality. His work is represented in private and public corporations throughout Australia and overseas.
Wood has been commonly used by people of the earth since time immemorial and its sense of history warmth and unique character appeal to artists with a love of nature. The majority of the wood Jim uses is timber cutters offcuts branchwood and end pieces not suitable for milling. The challenge of decayed and discarded timber is an integral part of his artistic process. The emotion is conjured then follows a series of drawings and a sculpture is formed resulting in a stunning display of ingenuity and talent.
