It's time to revisit the acoustically enticing Octagon ArstSpace in Bungendore Wood Works Gallery for a sumptuous night of music.

Begin the night with champagne & canapés in the Gallery followed by the main course and dessert in the Cafe before settling in to the upstairs Octagon for a sublime performance by Boyd Meets Girl.

Boyd Meets Girl pairs Australian classical guitarist Rupert Boyd with American cellist Laura Metcalf, in an ensemble that performs a diverse and exciting mix of works from the baroque through modern day.

Both are respected soloists in their own right, Boyd has been recognised by The Washington Post as “truly evocative”, and by Classical Guitar Magazine as “a player who deserves to be heard”, while Metcalf’s playing has been described as “brilliant” by Gramophone Magazine, and she has been called “a cellist whose passion for music is as evident as her artistry and talent” by I Care If You Listen.

Boyd Meets Girl performs Allegretto Comodo from Sonata for Cello and Guitar by Radamés Gnattali (1906-1988).

Boyd Meets Girl has performed concerts throughout the United States, Australia, India and Nepal, and received the following review in the Kolkata Statesman “They were immaculate and elegant in their interpretation, their musicianship of the highest order.”

Boyd Meets Girl performs Je Te Veux by Erik Satie (1866-1925)

Boyd Meets Girl’s debut recording will be released in 2017 and includes works by J.S. Bach, Astor Piazzolla, Manuel de Falla, the Australian composer Ross Edwards, and a number of arrangements by the duo of their favourite works from the classical music canon.

The duo, a happily married couple, live in New York City.

His debut album Valses Poéticos received the following review in Soundboard, the quarterly publication of Guitar Foundation of America: “Boyd’s playing is beautifully refined, with gorgeous tone... musically and technically flawless... [the Granados is] one of the best recorded performances of this work on guitar.”
