In a career spanning 50 years Sydney songstress Sandie White has worked around the globe with enough top names to fill a “Who’s Who of Jazz” compendium.  In the tradition of vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Sandie works through well-selected numbers from the Great American Songbook, presenting jazz standards with professionalism and interpretive style. White’s vocal range, tonal quality and great jazz feel for expression and improvisation flow unfailingly in her live performances.

Sandie will be accompanied on the evening by two world-class jazz master musicians living right here in Canberra. Wayne Kelly will be on piano and Eric Ajaye on the double bass.  Both are amazing exponents of their instruments and are both strongly connected with live performance nationally and internationally, and teaching at the ANU School of Music.

The absence of drums allows for more clarity of Ajaye’s bass while Kelly’s piano will produce tight, complimentary backing for Whites vocals. The Great American Songbook is filled with the delightful compositions from Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter, Fats Waller, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington and Harold Arlen just to name a few.

This will be a dynamic evening of world-class music accompanied by a tasty and filling 3-course meal from Café Wood Works.
Bookings can be made by phoning the Café on 6238 1688.
